Sink Peel Sessions

July 2nd, 2007 by Ed

Quick link to the BBC site about the Peel Show Sessions. Info on all three Sink sessions to be found here

In related news, I’ve just been emailing Paul and it turns out he still has a functioning tape deck. Good news as mine’s broken and I have a LOAD of great stuff on cassette that I need to get converted and posted here.

What’s the story behind the first session and the line-up? That must have been very early in Sink’s life - had you started gigging by that time?

Paul here from that early session!

Ed’s Bad Dress Sense had just split up and had a Peel Session lined up. Rather than turn the great man down Ed started Sink and recruited people for the band. I was a roadie for the Stupids and wanted to do it but Ed had already asked Sunil a friend of both of us. I must have applied some serious guilt and Ed let us split the session.
I’m guessing Tommy was there to increase the fee as we were paid musician union rates per performer….shhhh ;-)

And no we hadn’t played a show… I wonder if any other Peel Session bands had a session before they’d played live?

Ahh, I think I remember Ed telling me that story once a long time ago. Shows the high regard Peelie must have had for Stupids to let him get away with that!

You got yourself a Stingray yet, Paul? ;)
